Sandra Renee Hodge
Sandra Renee Hodge, known affectionately as Sandy by her friends and family, passed from this life on June 12, 2024, in Odessa, TX. Sandy was born on December 22, 1983, in Dumas, TX, to the late Forest Waldron and Joyce Jones.
Sandy’s life was a testament to the love and dedication she had for her family. She married the love of her life, Michael Hodge, on April 2, 2006, in Andrews, TX. Together, they built a life filled with joy and cherished moments. Sandy embraced her role as a stay-at-home mom with enthusiasm and grace, adoring every moment spent caring for her two daughters, Bailey Dillow, with her husband Brandon, and Jalee Hodge. Her commitment to her family was unwavering, as she was a constant source of love and support.
Her sisters, Jennifer Ward and her husband Chris, and Mandy VanZandt and her husband Justin, along with her mother-in-law, Ann Hodge will fondly remember Sandy’s vibrant spirit and loving nature. She was also a beloved figure among her numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and extended family members, who will all miss her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parent, stepfather, Royce Brooks, and her beloved grandmother, Virginia Jones.
Sandy’s zest for life was evident through her diverse interests and hobbies. She found peace and happiness in the great outdoors, whether it was taking trips to the lake to go fishing or riding around on the tractor with Michael. The couple’s excursions to the Sandhills were always filled with joy and adventure. Sandy’s love for animals was profound, with a special place in her heart for birds of all kinds, from the wild ones that frequented her backyard to the chickens she adored.
Her daughters were the center of her universe, she relished in taking them shopping, engaging in long conversations over the phone, and simply being present in every aspect of their lives. Sandy was an avid reader who could easily get lost in the pages of a good book, finding solace and excitement in the stories she loved.
Sandy’s exceptional hearing was a unique trait that often amazed those around her, as she could hear the slightest sounds from great distances—a pen drop or even a snake slithering a bit too close for comfort. Her love for children extended beyond her own family, as she enjoyed working with Mother’s Day Out programs, touching the lives of many with her kindness and patience.
The simple pleasures in life brought Sandy the most joy. Whether it was sitting on the porch with Michael or just riding around with him, they were inseparable, always finding contentment in each other’s company. Together, they created a legacy of love and companionship that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew them.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 2:00PM, Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Crossbar Cowboy Church with Pastor Cody Hull officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Andrews County North Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Lance Baze, Brady Martin, JD Mosley, Harley Tyler, Brandon Dillow, Jaime Fernandz, and Honorary Pallbearer, Clayton O’Rear. Visitation will be held from 4:00PM-8:00PM, Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at McNett Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home.
