Jerry Criswell

Jerry Criswell, 82, of Canyon, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024. Services were held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon with Pastor Ted Taylor officiating. The family received friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Brooks Chapel.

Jerry was born on February 7, 1942 in Aspermont, Texas to David Lytle and Pearl Jewell (Bridges) Criswell. He graduated from Seminole High School and received his degree in welding from New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, NM. Jerry married Linda Lippincott on July 4, 1963 in Seminole, and they were married for 61 wonderful years before he preceded her in death.

Jerry worked for 49 years in the oilfield. He and Linda lived in Hereford for 17 years where they were active in the Hereford Church of the Nazarene, and they returned to Canyon in 2019. In their early years, he and Linda really enjoyed western dancing. He also loved fishing, hunting, and was an avid gun and knife collector. He loved his family dearly and cherished his time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Laverne Slover, twin brother, Terry Criswell, brother, David Criswell and great granddaughter, Aubree.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Criswell of the home; daughter, Shanna Brown and husband, Randy of Canyon; two sons, David Criswell and wife, Liz of Andrews and Michael Criswell of Canyon; seven grandchildren, David Lee Criswell, Jaci Criswell, Josh Criswell, Cory Criswell, Courtney Criswell, Colin Criswell, and Kali Thompson; and 15 great grandchildren.
