James Wesley Guy

James Wesley Guy who entered eternal life Friday, August 16, 2024, was born June 20, 1934 at Lelia Lake, Texas, the firstborn son of J. F. Guy and Seigel Beaty Guy. He grew up in rural Texas and graduated from High School in Carbon, Texas in 1952, one of a class consisting of five boys.

James moved to Seminole, Texas in mid-1952 to work in the oilfield. There he met the love of his life, Joyce Burnett, and they were married on February 14, 1953. James spent his working career in Texas, North Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Arizona, New Mexico, Alabama and finally landed in Andrews, Texas in 1970, working for Armco Fluid Pack Pump. His working career involved at least 30 moves; the oldest son was enrolled in sixteen different school systems.

James is survived by his wife: Joyce; two sons: James Thomas Guy and wife, Linda Daniels Guy of Snyder, Texas; Robert Scott Guy and wife, Lisa Zap Guy of Big Spring, Texas; five grandchildren: James Taylor Guy and wife, Amanda McIntosh Guy of Des Moines, Iowa; Justin Todd Guy and wife, Jessica Wade Guy of Plano, Texas; Jonathan Tres Guy of Des Moines, Iowa; Miranda Hackford of Altona, Utah; and Bryan Pete Daniels of Snyder, Texas; nine great grandchildren; one brother: Glendon Don Guy and wife, Judith of Austin, Texas; various nieces and nephews; and his two fur-babies, Magic and Marmalade. James is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Dorothy Guy Jackson and one brother, Burl Gene Guy.

James enjoyed cooking for the Methodist Men’s Breakfast on a monthly basis, working in his yard, reading, and visiting with his many friends.

Graveside service for the family will be followed by a Celebration of Life Service at one p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Means Methodist Church in Andrews, Texas, with the Rev. Rick Doyle officiating. Honorary Pall Bearers are members of the Permian Regional Medical Center Auxiliary (Pink Ladies).

The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Beehive Homes and Home Hospice for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to honor James be sent to The Gideons International, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The American Cancer Society, or the Meals on Wheels program for Andrews County.
