Phyllis “Jan” Gregory

Phyllis “Jan” Gregory, known affectionately by friends and family as Jan, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, at the age of 82, in Andrews, Texas. Born on November 28, 1942, in Lamesa, Texas, Jan grew into a woman of remarkable character and joy, touching the lives of all who knew her.

Jan’s early life was rooted in the community of Big Springs, but her story would see her make a lasting impact in Andrews, Texas, where she spent her final years. She was a proud mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion. Jan is survived by her son Ricky Gregory and his wife Karen of Andrews, Texas, and daughterin- law Sandy Gregory, also of Andrews. Her siblings, Susan Myers and husband Hank of Colorado, and Robert Ballard of Ruidoso, New Mexico, will hold her memory dear, as will her cherished grandchildren: David Gregory and wife Lauren, Chris Gregory and wife Danielle, Kellie Yarbrough and husband Kyle, Casey Williams and husband Clay, and Ashley Gregory. Her greatgrandchildren Michael Thatcher and wife Kiara, Taiylor Gregory, Haiyden Gregory, Mason Gregory, Jaxon Gregory, Beckham Gregory, Chasen Williams, Charley Williams, Austin Adams, and Jaden Adams, as well as her great-greatgranddaughter Brinlee Thatcher, will all miss her deeply.

Mrs. Gregory is reunited with her parents Jeri Brown Daniels and Foy Futrell, maternal and paternal grandparents and son Randal Gregory.

A testament to her belief in lifelong learning and personal growth. Her professional life was marked by dedication and service; she worked at First National Bank of Andrews for twenty years, where she became a beloved member of the community. Following her time at the bank, she served the public at the Andrews County Clerk’s office for eight years before retiring. Her work ethic and commitment to her colleagues and clients were unparalleled, and they are a part of her enduring legacy.

Beyond her professional achievements, Jan was a woman of many passions. She was an avid gardener, blessed with a green thumb that brought beauty and life to her surroundings. Her flowers were a source of pride and joy, as they bloomed in vibrant testament to her care and attention. Jan’s sense of humor and quick wit made her fun to be around, and her laughter was a gift that brightened the lives of those around her. She was known for her comforting hugs and back scratches, which had the power to lift spirits and soothe worries.

Jan’s love for animals was boundless, and she found great joy in her shopping adventures on QVC and HSN. However, the true light of her life was her family. The moments she shared with her children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, and greatgreat- granddaughter were the ones she treasured most. Each family gathering was an opportunity for Jan to express her love and to create memories that her family will now hold close.

Jan Gregory lived a life full of laughter, love, and beauty. Her presence was a blessing, and her absence will be deeply felt. She leaves behind a tapestry of lives touched by her kindness, a garden of friendships nurtured by her care, and a family strengthened by her love. As we say goodbye, we celebrate the extraordinary woman she was, and we take comfort in knowing that her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved. Jan’s journey on this earth may have ended, but her story continues in the legacy she leaves behind.

The Gregory family would like to extend a special thanks to Andrews Home Hospice, Michelle Nelson, Debbie Graves, Mallorie Kitchens, Selinda Hobbs, Bernice Pacheco and Beehive Home Care, Afrika Franklin and Myra Hernandez.

A memorial service for Mrs. Phyllis “Jan” Gregory will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at two o’clock in the afternoon with Chaplin Donnie Rollie at The Chapel of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews, Texas.
