PURSE THEFT Social media plea finds woman who stole $950 purse

A social media plea by a merchant who had a valuable purse stolen from his business Monday helped lead to the arrest of the suspect, who apparently listed it online to sell, according to police.

Lexia Mendoza-Chavez of Andrews was arrested for stealing the Louis Vuitton purse earlier that day from Chic Threads in the 700 block of S. Main, Andrews Police Chief Ronny McCarver said.

The name brand purse was valued at $950, the police chief added.

New EMS dispatch system will have immediate impact

A new emergency medical dispatch system that received funding approval Tuesday by the commissioners court could help save lives, county officials believe. Commissioners acted on a Legacy Committee recommendation to approve $67,000 in Waste Control Specialists funding to begin operating the Priority Dispatch system.
