Fort Worth Stock show and Rodeo shooting competition

Six local youths from Andrews County 4-H travelled to Ft. Worth to compete in the Fort Worth Stock show and Rodeo shooting competition at Defender Sporting Clays.

PERMIAN BASIN DAUGHTERS, AMERICAN REVOLUTION, TXDAR/NSDAR, DRESS FOR COLONIAL SUCCESS

Daughters of the local Permian Basin Chapter of Texas Daughters, of the American Revolution, TXDAR, and the national society, NSDAR, dressed appropriately in Colonial attire for their September meeting in authentic dresses and hats of the 1770’s - 1780’s era. Cindy Davis, Regent, chaired her first meeting of her two-year term, as the ladies prepared for their annual Constitution Program for all of Andrews’ fifth graders, that was held on September 19th, at Underwood Elementary.

Jason Harper, center above, signed the official proclamation declaring September 17-23, as National Constitution Week for Andrews, and Andrews County. The United States Constitution remains the oldest government document governing a country in the world. Its importance cannot be overstated in today’s turbulent times. Recognizing White Cane Awareness Day

White Cane Awareness Day on Oct. 15 is an opportunity to learn more about community resources available to people with vision loss and celebrate their achievements. Also known as White Cane Safety Day, the annual observance highlights the white cane as a valuable tool used by people who are visually impaired. The National Federation of the Blind notes that the white cane is a symbol of how people with blindness or vision loss can move around independently and safely.
