Four wins—two in pool play and two in bracket play—in six matches earned the Andrews Lady Mustangs volleyball team the third place team trophy at the Seminole Classic over the weekend.

Sam Curtis Chambliss age 93 passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022, surrounded by family in Snyder, TX where he resided with his granddaughter Brandi. Curtis was born on January 18th, 1929 to Sam and Lucile Chambliss in Brownfield, TX. He was a resident of Andrews for 67 years. He was employed at the Andrews post office and retired in 1992. While employed he enjoyed training horses and was Jockey on the weekends. He enlisted in the Army Air-Corp back in 1946 and was discharged in April 1949, but was called for duty August 1950-1951.

After struggling in their last tournament winning just two of six matches, the Andrews Lady Mustangs were in desperate need of solid play and a good win.

And after two weeks of travel, a little home cooking would certainly help.

AHS head coach Jessica Campbell got just that.

The Lady Mustangs not only beat a good Denver City squad but got stronger team-wise as the match went on for a clean three game sweep 25-22, 25-13, and 25-10.

It was just what the volleyball doctor had ordered.
