The Texas Music Educators Association held the High School Region 6 Choir Auditions on Saturday, October 1, at Permian HS. 16 Andrews High School Choir members qualified for the Small School All-Region Choir, and 12 of those qualified for the Pre-Area round of auditions. Those qualifying for the Pre-Area auditions were in the top 12 of their voice parts and will audition again in November. If they are in the top 8 of their voice part at the end of the Pre-Area Auditions, they will qualify to audition for the Texas All-State Choir in January.
Andrews once again deserves a pat on the back for coming through with various forms of assistance for a family who lost their belongings to a Tuesday afternoon structure fire. Citizens rose to the occasion to help their neighbors in need. The Tuesday fire at 901 SW 6th St. destroyed the home’s interior and, in the process, displaced five people living there. Those residents are pretty much facing starting all over again, according to friends. It’s a difficult and challenging setback. An elderly woman and her great granddaughter were asleep in the home when the fire started.
Raymond Lloyd Lewallen, 63, unexpectedly gained his Heavenly wings on October 22, 2022, leaving behind a multitude of family members, friends, associates, and customers who will all miss him greatly.
