In a field loaded with varsity 6A and 5A teams, the number two Andrews Lady Mustangs golf team didn’t win the Rockwind Classic held last Friday and Saturday but Coach Andy Correll’s squad did open up a ton of eyes.

O’Connor wins individual running honors to lead AHS JV girls to title

With Lindsay O’Connor winning the individual title and Clara Reyes and Mariska Hubert finishing in the top 10, the Andrews Lady Mustangs XC JV team won the team title at the varsity Sundown Classic last Saturday. O’Conner clocked a 15:19, Reyes had a 15:49 and Hubert ran a 15:51.

Long road trip and tough Canyon team on menu for Andrews Friday

As if it is not enough that the Andrews Mustangs are coming of a loss where they were ahead 20-0 at one time -- now they get a Canyon Eagles team that on paper is the second toughest opponent on their 2021 schedule.

Zombie-walking with 2-4 uncharacteristically record, Coach Ralph Mason’s boys are just trying to hang on through struggles the Andrews program is not used to.

While it might be a different animal they are dealing with, it also builds from the inside out.

Completely understand the Andrews High School football program is not used to going through hard times but to be left out completely from the Harris Ratings Weekly is unheard of.

That being said, a week after cracking the Top 20 at 18 th , Andrews dropped 34 spots to 52 nd this week.

AMS 7th ‘A’ football bounce back from 14-0 hole to win

The Andrews Mustangs 7 th ‘A’ football team claimed a solid 30-14 win over the Pecos Eagles last week.

Pecos scored on their opening drive and added another touchdown to go up 14-0.

Andrews had an answer – a good answer.

Fillies play Maidens tough but lose in 3 to fall to 0-3 in 2-4A

It’s tough to play the best team volleyball you have in a while and still come out on the short end but that is exactly where the Andrews Lady Mustangs volleyball team is at the time.

Playing Seminole in front of their home crows has never ever been an easy task for AHS volleyball and Saturday proved to be the same thing with Coach Jessica Campbell losing in three heart-breaking games 26-24, 25-23, 25-16.

The loss kept the girls in ‘Black and Gold’, which were missing seniors Tori Woodside and Jamie Butler, winless in district play at 0 and 3.

AMS 8th ‘A’ football beat Pecos 16-8 for third win

The Andrews Mustangs 8 th ‘A’ football team improved their season record to 3-wins against 1-loss with a tough 16-8 win over the Pecos Eagles.

Jaesean Debouse and quarterback Raider Harvey connected for both of the young Mustangs touchdowns on pass plays of 58 and 46 yards. Colton Aguirre caught both conversion passes from Harvey for their 16 point total.

Lopez 7th ‘A’ Fillies lose 2 of 3 at tourney

The Andrews Lady Mustangs 7 th ‘A’ volleyball team lost two of three matches at the Seminole Classic Saturday.

Andrews opened with a 25-14, 25-18 loss to Denver City, beat Lamesa 25-12, 25-21 and fell to Monahans in the battle for third place 26-24, 25-22.
