AHS XC boys place 4th; Fillies 5th at Lubbock

With 53 teams in the field, the two things the Lubbock Christian XC meet Saturday was not missing were bodies and competition.

8th ‘A’ boys take down GW 26-12

The Andrews Mustangs 8 ‘A’ football team, the future of AHS varsity football, opened the season with an impressive 26-12 win over the Greenwood Rangers. Jaesean Debouse scored two rushing touchdowns from 14 and 39 yards plus quarterback Raider Harvey found the end zone on an 8-yard run. Wide-out Rocky Stephens scored on a three-yard pass from Harvey plus Colton Aguirre added a two-point conversion pass from Harvey. On defense, Stephens had an interception.

9th Ponies battle back to beat GW

It took a great second half effort but the Andrews Mustangs 9 football team the Greenwood Rangers 18- 12 on the road last week.

When you see matches and it’s a 4A team like the Andrews Lady Mustangs against 2A’s like the Wink Lady Wildcats and the Fort Davis Lady Indians -- the first thing that comes to mind is ‘cake walks’ or at least ‘easy wins.’
