Prieto selected to play in Texas High School All Star Game June 15th

Vito Prieto had the kind of baseball season that gets state-wide attention! Some things speak for themselves. Prieto, a May Andrews High School graduate, was selected to play in the 2A, 3A and 4A Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star game to be played at Dell Diamond in Round Rock on Saturday, June 15. Vito, the son of Zulema and Marcelino Prieto of Andrews, was one of two third basemen selected to play for the North squad. He was the only player from District 2-4A selected to play in the elite game.

Whether it’s football, baseball, basketball or golf!

Sometimes too much talent rules!

To be perfectly honest, no three-person golf team in the annual Gym Bice Memorial Classic was going to come close to the trio of Mark Fowler, Stefan Cronje and Xander Basson in the Championship flight.

Not with the opening number the trio posted on Saturday.

As a unit, the Fowler, Cronje and Basson posted a low-ball round of 51.

In golf terms, that is basically 17 birdies and one eagle.

Girls basketball camp starts locally Monday

The 2019 Lady Mustang Basketball Summer Camp will start here Monday at the Performance Center.

Cost of the camp is $50. For families with more than one camper – two siblings cost $80, three siblings $120 and four siblings $160. Checks can be payable to Andrews Girls Basketball and mailed to Andrews High School, c/o Quint Anthony, 1400 NW Ave. K, Andrews, Texas, 79714.

The three-day camp will be have three levels.
