With the 3-4A district championship already clinched, and a home game for the Andrews Mustangs—finishing out the season against a weak Lake View squad with a solid performance, and as injury-free as possible, is at the top of the list for the boys in ‘black and gold’. And according to the Harris Ratings Weekly, it should be pretty simple. Andrews is a huge 23-point favorite over the Chiefs in their regular season finale while Big Spring and Pecos is a pick’em. With all four teams automatically advancing into the playoffs, the only thing in question now, since Andrews is the top team, is the seeding for the other three teams. As district champions, Andrews’ first round of the playoffs is set against Burnet Thursday night in San Angelo at 7 p.m. The Mustangs’ win over Pecos didn’t do much for the Harris folks, dropping AHS one spot from 45 to 46, they still easily remain the highest 3-4A team with Big Spring at 74th, Pecos at 78th and Lake View at 80th. For the record, the Mustangs’ first round playoff opponent, Burnet, is 25th in the state in the Harris polls. Burnet is a huge 25-point underdog in their last game vs. Stephenville, with former AHS athlete Ryan Gafford at QB. In other games of interest, Seminole is 21 over Monahans, Greenwood is 45 over Snyder, Liberty is 5 over Levelland, West Plains is 21 better than Canyon, Alpine is 14 over Odessa Compass, Midland Legacy is 34 over Odessa High and Permian is a single point over Midland High.
