Other than the first Friday of Texas High School football when they were playing Clint, and honestly there was not a lot of information on the Lions, the first four words out of Andrews Head Coach Tom Harvey’s mouth when talking about his next opponent have always been the same.
Going by non-district play and their win/loss records plus the fact both volleyball teams were state-ranked, it was incredibly easy to tell the best two teams in 3-4A were the Andrews Lady Mustangs and the Greenwood Lady Rangers.
One win in two matches is certainly nothing to brag about for Coach Rick Garcia’s storied Andrews Mustangs team tennis program, but winning the district championship once again is.
With four wins in three days, including three Saturday at the Seminole ‘B’ tournament, the Andrews Lady Mustangs 8th ‘B’ volleyball team not only won the team title, they remained undefeated for the season.
The days of the Andrews Mustangs and the Monahans Loboes playing for a district title might be a thing of the past, but their respect and rivalry for each other is not.
