Second Baptist Church recently celebrated Pastor Kevin Covington’s 15th year at the church. Covington began pastoring at Second Baptist in the mid-2000s. Church members said Covington has served the longest pastoral stint at Second Baptist. Members said they are thankful to have a “wonderful man of God” leading the church and have been blessed with a pastor who loves God and pours out that love through his preaching of God’s word each Sunday. They pointed to Jeremiah 3:15—“And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.”
