Argument at Love’s leads to Las Vegas man being charged with stolen vehicle

A Las Vegas, Nevada, man and a New Mexico woman were arrested early Friday for occupying a stolen vehicle out of Odessa, according to police.

The arrests occurred after a report of an argument between the man and woman at a local truck stop, police said.

Isaac Garcia of Las Vegas and Victoria Ramirez Valdez of New Mexico were apprehended by officers and Garcia was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, according to Andrews Police Lieutenant Tim Fulks.

The Andrews Economic Development Corporation Board has a new look after the city council appointed two members at last Thursday’s meeting.

Elicia Sanchez was appointed to replace longtime board member Robby Rogers and Adrian Gonzales was appointed to fulfill Stan Leeper’s unexpired term.

Leeper, who has served on the board more than one term, resigned his seat recently to pursue other business interests, according to city officials.

Rogers, meanwhile, termed out with his position.

Citizen survey will provide city with feedback on various services

CITY COUNCIL

Residents desiring to provide input on city services ranging from public safety to trash collection can get their two cents in through an avenue recently approved by the city council.

Andrews citizens are encouraged to complete a survey that will help the city identify and respond to resident concerns as well as evaluate and improve services, according to city officials.

The survey is a product of the 2020 Strategic Goals approved by the city council in June, Andrews City Manager Steve Eggleston said.

Will the Hoses regain former dominance?

Who knows if the Hoses can recapture the dominance it displayed the first two years of the annual Guns & Hoses benefit softball tournament.

The Hoses’ mastery of the Guns the initial two games suddenly disappeared in a 12-3 loss last September, resulting in the winner’s belt, think WWF, moving from the fire station to the law enforcement side for the first time.

The absence of the championship belt being on display at the fire house over the past year surely has created a void for the Hoses.
