Apartment project in southeast Andrews is progressing

A $10 million apartment project known as Avenue Commons in southeast Andrews that will offer affordable housing is progressing as planned.

The concrete foundation has been laid and the actual construction of apartments is now occurring.

In the words of Craig Alter, it has been “forever” since Andrews’ last affordable apartment project involving family units.

There was an affordable development here around 25 years ago, but that was strictly for senior citizens.

On August 9, 2019, Adriana Renteria received a scholarship from Dr. Satish Nayak and wife, Sumana Nayak. Adriana is the daughter of Raul and Alma Renteria of Andrews. She will be attending Texas A&M and plans on majoring in Pre-Med/Biology.

While attending college she will be working on her prerequisites for medical school. She plans on being a part of WTAMU Marching Band. Adriana’s overall goal is to become a Forensic Pathologist/Medical Examiner.
