Local gas prices come down from last week

The best gas prices in town this week were found at Exxon and across the street at Alon, according to Gas-Buddy.

The prices at those stations were substantially lower than others at $2.69 for a gallon of unleaded.

Prices approached $3 per gallon at the Love’s truck stop station.

Specifically, Love’s was at $2.95 a gallon, according to Gas-Buddy.

The lowest prices in the Lubbock area were around the $2.45 to $2.47 range, or 20 cents less than here.

Carolyn Jones’ top ambition with serving on the city council is “being of service,” she said.

Jones, who was the top vote getter in Saturday’s city council election, will have another opportunity to provide that service to the community.

It will be her third, two-year term on the council. Along with Jones—the lone incumbent—two new faces will join the council.

Keith Livingston and Chris Helbig were also elected through the city’s straight cumulative voting method.

Jones garnered 291 votes, followed by 274 for Livingston, 235 for Helbig and 170 for Jane Gomez.

Driver’s license office will move to another room at annex

The commissioners court on Monday agreed on a new, temporary location for the state driver’s license office.

It’s a new location in the sense the office will move areas at the county annex facility across from the courthouse.

The larger kitchen area/meeting room there will accommodate two additional employees for the driver’s license office. A staff increase is expected to alleviate long lines and waits due to just one employee, and an overflow coming to Andrews that couldn’t be serviced at the Midland/Odessa supercenter.
