JV Ponies fall 16-14 to Lobos

The Andrews Mustangs junior varsity football team came out on the short end of a 16-12 ball game Thursday night in Levelland.

In dropping their third straight game, the difference in the game was the Lobos converting on two-point conversions and Andrews, despite showing signs of team improvement, coming up short.

The Andrews Mustangs freshmen ‘A’ football team put another ‘W’ in the win column with a 42-22 victory over the Levelland Lobos on the road Thursday.

After a slow offensive start in the first half in which AHS struggled to hold onto the ball (they ended up with four turnovers), the Mustangs defense was even better and sealed the deal with five interceptions and a fumble recovery.

With 74 two-player teams, the 2019 Andrews Collegiate-Am Golf Classic had an overall field loaded with talent!

Some more than others! As it is most of the time, the Championship Flight had the fewest number of teams (six) with half finishing in the money. Les Leddingham and Kelly Groenwald captured the title with a 124 two-day total behind 18s of 58 and 66. Second-place, with a 128 team score, belonged to Stefan Cronje and Blake Robertson (59-69) and Trey Perkins and Ryan Fioretti (63-69) took third with a 129 team score.
