With two firsts and a second, the AHS relay girls accounted for 56 team points, plus Eniyah Conaway, Mikylee Morrison, Cedar Recker and Ivette Carrasco had individual gold medal wins to lead Coach Wade Floyd’s varsity team to the 3-4A District Championship held in Fort Stockton last week.

Two new school records by the 800 and 1600 relay teams, plus another win in the 400-relay and six individual gold, led by Addy Baeza with two, was more than enough to carry the Andrews Lady Mustangs 8th grade track team to the championship title at the district meet in Greenwood. Also winning gold medals were Jastelyn Galindo, Kelsey Nevarez, Rylan Newbrough and Ashley Espinoza.

AMS shot putter Kelby Glass broke her own record on her way to two gold medals, plus Addy Evans also had two first place finishes, to help the 7th grade Andrews Lady Mustangs to a thirdplace finish at the district meet in Greenwood last week.

Long distance runner Gavin Ortiz and hurdler Jonathan Pipes both won two gold medals at the Tribe Relays in Seminole to help AHS easily win the team varsity title.

Barnes win medalist title; both AHS boys golf team advance to regions

With seven of the top 10 golfers in the district fitted in the ‘Black and Gold’ of Andrews High School, including the district medalist in Joe Barnes, both of Coach Jeff Williamson’s number one and number two golf teams earned a spot at the regional tournament to be held in Lubbock April 15 and 16.
