Tied 4-4 going into the fourth inning Tuesday evening in Greenwood, the Andrews Lady Mustangs scored two runs in the top of the at bat and exploded for five more in the fifth to break the game open and give the girls in ‘Black and Gold’ a one-sided 12-6 win. The victory improved Coach Carol Vaughn’s girl’s league record to 2-wins and 1-loss and in a second place tie.
On a day where the Mustangs set nine regional records and looked like the dominating team of the region, Coach Eric Pierce’s boys came up just short of the team title by a mere two points to defending regional and state champions Perryton.
Three wins in four games at the Snyder Classic Friday and Saturday ran the Andrews Mustangs baseball season record to 10-wins and 6-losses with the start of district play less than a week away.
After getting past regionals, 2020 Andrews High School graduate Brett Leach and his Midland College Chaparrals basketball team will be competing at the 2023 NJCAA Men’s Basketball Championships to be held in Hutchinson, Kansas.
